AWelfare Decomposition in Quasi-Linear Economies∗

چکیده
We propose a decomposition of social welfare when consumers have quasi-linear utility functions under certain conditions satisfied in many models of imperfect competition. In our decomposition, social welfare is expressed as the sum of consumers’ gross utilities and trade surplus of non-numeraire commodities, which contribute to consumers’ utilities non-linearly. This decomposition is useful especially when we assess the impact of trade liberalization on individual countries. JEL Classification Number: F10

Total Factor Productivity Growth, Technical Change and Technical Efficiency Change in Asian Economies: Decomposition Analysis
The aim of this paper is to analyze total factor productivity (TFP) growth and its components in Asian countries applying Stochastic Frontier Analysis (SFA) to the time series data of 44 Asian countries from 2000 to 2010. Using Battese and Coelli approach, TFP is divided into technical efficiency change and technical change. TFP decomposition using SFA method for the years 1998 to 2007 indicate...
متن کاملQuasi-Primary Decomposition in Modules Over Proufer Domains
In this paper we investigate decompositions of submodules in modules over a Proufer domain into intersections of quasi-primary and classical quasi-primary submodules. In particular, existence and uniqueness of quasi-primary decompositions in modules over a Proufer domain of finite character are proved. Proufer domain; primary submodule; quasi-primary submodule; classical quasi-primary; decompo...
متن کاملClassical quasi-primary submodules
In this paper we introduce the notion of classical quasi-primary submodules that generalizes the concept of classical primary submodules. Then, we investigate decomposition and minimal decomposition into classical quasi-primary submodules. In particular, existence and uniqueness of classical quasi-primary decompositions in finitely generated modules over Noetherian rings are proved. More...

متن کاملStrategy - proofness and Pareto - efficiency in quasi - linear exchange economies ∗
In this paper, we revisit a long-standing question on the structure of strategyproof and Pareto-efficient social choice functions (SCFs) in classical exchange economies (Hurwicz (1972)). Using techniques developed by Myerson in the context of auctiondesign, we show that in a specific quasi-linear domain, every Pareto-efficient and strategy-proof SCF satisfying non-bossiness and a mild continuit...
